2-Color Brioche Cowl workshop with Leanne Walker and Karen Schilling

2-color brioche

Brioche is fun to knit, creates exciting color contrast and is easy when knit in the round! Working on a short cowl, you will have a great winter accessory AND learn a new skill. Pattern will be provided.

Skills Needed: Must know how to knit, purl and work in the round on circular needles. Also helps a lot if you have experience with working a “YO” (yarn over).

Homework Prior to Class: Cast on 80 stitches in worsted weight yarn (solid color), place marker, join for working in the round (making sure not to twist stitches) and knit five rows.

***

  • Materials:
    • approx 100 yards each of two colors of worsted weight yarn (200 yards in total) – we recommend one of these be a self-striping yarn. We used Berroco Millefiori for the self-striping yarn and Hikoo Simplinatural for the solid color.
    • US size 6 16″ circular needle
  • Date: Sat. Nov 11th, 10 AM – 12:30 PM
  • Fee: $40.00

“Crochet a Bowl” workshop with Kristin Irgens

Crochet a Bowl

Are you looking for a way to try out your newly acquired crochet skills? This cute little bowl is the perfect project! Use it for notions, in the office, bathroom, or wherever you need a small container for small items! You will learn how to crochet in the round, how to increase, and how to finish a project. We will also talk about how to add a second color, and how this basic pattern can be changed to make a larger bowl, or even a hat!

Skills Needed: You should know the very basic crochet skills like chain stitch & single crochet.

***

  • Materials:
    • 50 grams of bulky yarn (or yarn that can be doubled up to bulky weight).
    • Crochet hook size G (4mm) or H (5mm). We will be aiming for a tight gauge.
    • Optional: a small amount of yarn in a contrasting color, for edging or stripes.
  • Date: Sat Dec 2’nd from 10 AM – 12 PM
  • Fee: $40.00

“Demystify the Magic Loop” workshop with Karen Schilling

Magic Loop

Are you tired of fiddling with four or five double-pointed needles? Do you twist the yarn when joining in the round on multiple needles? Join Karen Schilling to learn the Magic Loop while making 2, one skein projects. First, using this simple fingerless mitt pattern you will master the magic loop and be able to crank out mitts in just a few hours. Then Karen will take you from the top down on a “no swatch” hat. Starting with 4 stitches on 3 or 4 needles can be challenging, but with the loop – no problem.

Skills Needed: You should be able to knit and purl, and cast-on using the long tail method.

***

  • Materials:
    • Approx 50g of worsted-weight yarn
    • US 6 32″ or 40″ circular needle
  • Date: Sat Dec 9’th from 10 AM – 12:30 PM
